Christina, the bush is similar in appearance to my old Rugosa Roses but that's a wild guess. :-)

The tree looks like it may be a Cotinus coggygria, Purple Leaf Smoke Tree.

Me,too, with the Rosa multiflora. They smell wonderful and you can bring them in as cut flowers and make your kitchen smell like them.
I don't know the tree, I've never seen it around here.
