I'm looking forward to hearing what the first plant is, we have it popping up in several different areas. My husband seems to think it is elderberry.

I asked a neighbor about the little plants and he confirmed that it is ash saplings. My husband told me when we moved in to the new house that most of the trees in our woods were black cherry. Turns out they are actually ash trees and we have tons of them. Hmmm, come to think of it, my husband doesn't really seem to know all that much about plants and trees. He THINKS he knows a lot...

I'm going to have to squeeze/pinch the leaf on the fuzzy stemmed one and see how it smells. I have wild field mint, pineapple, choolate and spearmint in pots and catnip in a pot.

The fzzy stemed one is definiely not a mint. I squeezes, rubbed, squished the leaves. Nope no mint there. Not even a teensy bit. Still a mystery...

The fuzzy stemmed one is exactly the same as a weed I'm alway's pulling out of my veggie garden. I don't know what it is or where it comes from, yet I'm always finding more to pull out!!!

I’ve compiled a lot of images over the last few months to help folks to be able to identify elderberries. More will follow as the growing season progresses. You can give them a look in my Elderberry Identification Section but this is about the best photo of a young shoot I have.

Brian, I just had a nice browse through your website and I'm impressed! Very nice setup.
Quick question because I am very nosy...is your Keyboard set to a language other than English? I've noticed several odd characters in your posts and wondered if it was your keyboard acting up or is it purposely setup that way.

I use MS-word to write things I intend to post. It can sometimes paste things I don’t intend like line spaces and carriage returns. I have been ask about my keyboard before but only because I’m a horrific speller.
