Good deal! I love my spider plants! One is a "baby" from Doug's mother's plant she had for YEARS! She got the original plant in the 60's. I baby that one a lot because she passed away last year and that makes it special to me....

I agree.....i love spider plants but they dont seem to share that feeling with me........i cant grow them so i like to admire everyone else's!!!

Oh, I love Spider plants! I used to have several in the waiting room of my office because there was a large window which provided enough light and they did great there! Of course, the fun part was they were so easy to propagate and share with friends.

Sandy, what do you mean by drooping over? I've noticed that their foliage will become very pale and droopy when it's needs to be watered. However, some problems with Spider plants are the result of over watering so you need to let the soil dry out between watering. They have a root system that is quite large and tuberous, so they are able to store water a lot longer than many hanging plants.

Hi Tonya, I believe you can see it if you click on the link Sandy has posted at the top of this page. Actually, I thought the foliage looked a little pale but sometimes the light from a flash will make it look lighter.

You are correct! It looks like it may be overwatered and underlit. I would make sure the pot is draining well and slowly move it to a place where it gets a good bit of indirect sunlight. Good Luck Sandy!

Hi sandy113, I too have a spider plant and mine produces lots of babies. So many so that my daughter got some of the off spring which she now gladly grows in her bedroom window. I tend not to water mine to much in the winter. But in the summer I water mine about every 1 1/2 weeks and I also give it some miracle grow for houseplants. It really appreciates this. I find growing spider plants to be very easy. So therefore to Penny in Ontario, see if you can get a cutting from someone who has a plant. If there are no roots on the plant then stick it in a glass of warm water with about 1 drop of miracle grow. Wait for roots to grow then get a nice potting soil and plant the spider plant into the ground enough to cover the roots. Then find your sunniest window ledge and place your spider plant there. Remember don't over water. Water once when planted, then wait till the ground is dry but not cracked and give it another watering with miracle grow (of course 1 drop added to the water) However I fill up my watering can and add 10 to 13 drops because I water all my houseplants this way. I also use warm water the plants seem to appreciate it more. Some people hang their spider plants but I just have mine on a trolly cart in front of my kitchen window. So I don't know if altitude would play a difference in a new plant or not.

There are actually some new offshoots (babies) just beginning on the mother plant again. Seems that the mother plant does this when the sun starts coming out stronger,(Now that winter is starting to go away). If you're serious about one of the mother plants' offspring, do you know if there are any regulations concerning border crossing for plants??? I know certain foods and dairy products can't go to the States and vice vesa to Canada. If you can find out somehow, maybe I can ship you down a baby. I think if I'm to do this I would probally have to wrap the roots in wet paper towel and then put saran or a baggie over the paper towel. So therefore the plant won't dry out till it gets to its destination. Of course if you are serious I would require your full address as well. Then again I'm wondering if the rest of the plant would survive its journey???? Because the plant itself wouldn't be getting any sun. Hmmmm! ????

I thought you would like to know that my daughters spider plant actually had a few babies starting so, we clipped them off and now they are in water awaiting their roots and hopefully awaiting to be shipped to you. There are two babies that I'm starting this way. Hopefully everything goes well and we'll be shipping them to you when they've rooted. So yes please try to find out about the shipping. Tried to send you a mail message back but your mail messages are full. So maybe tommorrow I can get a hold of the border control and see if they can help me with the shipping issue or maybe they know someone who can. I'm near the Cornwall Ontario, US border so I shouldn't have any difficulty getting a hold of customs. Hopefully they can address the issue at hand. Whenever, I recieve the info. then when the babies have rooted, I believe my best bet for shipping would be UPS overnight delivery service. This provides a better chance for the spider plants to survive. I'll also contact my local postal outlet to find out about the shipping costs to you. And if everything goes well at my end, I'll inform you and also let you know when I'll ship the babies out whenever they've rooted. Ok!
