i have 2 of these trees/shrubs in pot in my garden they havent done very well, i need to know the name of them to see if im doing anything wrong. does anyone know what they are called.. thanks in advance

That looks like a Bottlebrush shrub to me.

I think they are very pretty and the butterflies seem to love them [thumb]

If you can revive them I would love some seeds from them. I didn't know their was a bush variety I thought they were trees lol. I'm such a beginner.

The bottle brush tree is very prone to fungal stem galls and cankers.

There are hundreds of callistemon, from 1' high to medium sized trees. There are also some forms of melaleuca which have a similar flower and leaves and a papery bark. Generally, they are tolerant of a wide range of soil types and conditions, notably wet and sour soils which makes them perfect for areas of bad drainage.
The pendulous habit yours seems to have suggests it may be callistemon viminalis, or a hybrid thereof. (Longshot) Do you have a foto of the whole plant? I might be able to pick the species. When you say it is dieing, what are the symptoms?
