Author Garden: help for norfolk island pine! katienien Gardener Member # 8468 posted                       my norfolk pine plant seems to be browning, and i'm worried it might die completely! the tips are brown on some branches, and it just seems very dry all over. should i prune back all the brown branches and tips? should i repot it? i've only had it since christmas. thanks for all your help! Usually browning means it is getting to little water,they like a good soaking when they get watered. Yes go ahead and trim the brown off. You may need to put it in the shower and spray off the dust. Like MLN said, vent heat will dry the air, then the needles. Anytime my NIP lost browning needles, or even whole browning branches was in the winter months, in a room that was too warm for it, but I didn't have any other place to put it because it was so tall. I brought it home, took it out of its pot, loosened up the root ball a little and repotted it. I water it once a week really well-until it comes out the bottom. It is still a little dry on the tips, but I have gotten a humidifier and hopefully that will help with it too.
