I have 2 lucky bamboo plants-one in water and the other in soil. Both are doing well. I would like to make a feature of them by planting them with other plants. I've never planted mine in soil, the only thing I would suggest is to plant them with other low light plants, I've learned through experience that lucky bamboo really doesn't like a lot of light. I've love to hear what you come up with though. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

African violets like to be kept moist. They would add color to your display.

african violets need bright direct light - lucky bamboo needs indirect light. so, not a good match.
i don't have any suggestions on what to plant with the lb. i would recommend that you keep all the plants in individual pots and just put the pots in a larger planter - you can cover with some moss to hide the little pots.
that's a good way to compensate for different watering needs.

... hi there PGF... and I would say just remember that the 'lucky bamboo' is really not a bamboo at all, but a dracaena... and so I would just sorta naturally think that you could plant it with other likened to light/water plants, and it would do just fine.... and gooder luck too.

I got my Lucky Bamboo at the .99¢ store. It's 3 small canes with not many leaves. I put it in a fancy drinking glass with rocks, from the .99¢ store, and water. One of our cats ate the tips off the leaves.
Then, I put it outside in the shade, just for the morning. Three days later, I remembered it. The sun had taken the Crayola green color away and the leaves were yellow. I figured they would die off and be replaced by new ones.
To my surprise, after being inside for a few days, the color has begun coming back to the sun damaged leaves AND new leaves are coming in.
The furniture has been rearranged and the cat has not been able to get back at the plant. The cat is fine.

I am happy to hear that....... I bought mine at Lowes end of the year sale. There was about 15 in the thing, red pot like. All i do is water it and keep it out of the sun. Sets on top of the refrigerator.......No direct light at all......Some of them did turn brown and die, but I still have lots left.. I will have to photogaph it.
