Hi my girlfriend gave me two cuttings of this velvety plant. I want to know how to get them going. Do I have to put them in water and wait for them to root? Or do I sprinkle the black seeds around and water? Thank you so much.

Looks like Cockscomb to me.

I've never heard of cuttings rooting,so you will probably have to plant the seeds.

yeah hang them upside down over a news paper and let them dry the seeds will fall out. Also shake them real good and rub them to make sure all the seeds fall out. They grow tall with strong stalks. One of my favorite flowers. I have planted seeds from them for 2 years with no luck. I wish you the best of it! They are so beautiful. My son calls them brain flowers. I bet you can tell why. lol
