Yep...we planted it. Didn't know what we had growing in the garden since my father-in-law gave us some seeds. I just wonder if you all will think the same thing we did when you see it, so I will post the "cutting" tomorrow. Tonight...here is the vegetable/fruit.

So....what's the verdict?

Lisa, thank you. That's exactly what we thought.

The darn thing turned out to be a pumpkin. Sure looked like a watermelon on the vine, though...

 -

Until we cut it, we would have bet money we had a watermelon growing. When it started getting the yellow spots, we thought it needed some kind of fertilizer or something. I should have posted about it before we pulled and cut it and then maybe someone could have identified it and told us when to harvest and all that good stuff.

Thanks for not laughing too hard at the new gardeners!

Thank you, Carly....I think!

We have another one growing out there now, but we have decided to let the garden go. With my side hurting the way it has been and Jim having to mow after work the last couple of weeks, we got way behind. Oh, well.

Well, I hope your side's feeling better soon - that can be hard trying to work with that.

Anyway, you did better than I - I've never grown a melon or a gourd.
