Those hen'n'chicks will get 10" across and put out off-sets, Lynne. I think you're going to be re-potting soon. But it really looks good for now.

Thanks Tina. I have a few small ones outside, but because it gets so cold here and snowy and icy they never seem to get too large. Once they flower, I seem to lose them pretty much except for some tiny chicks that don't always make it over winter. I know that once they flower that part dies out, but the chicks that are a product of the main plant never seem to thrive too well.
I'm going to try and keep this one indoors.

Yes they do but that mamma has bloomed and it's still hanging in. I don't know why. The mother of the mamma pictured has bloomed a mess of times and just now looking ratty. It is at my neighbor's house (Lovelilies/Paula).

Ok what is the trick to growing these, I have tried and tried since moving to Arkansas with no luck. I use to have a large metal dishpan full when I lived in Missouri, But for some reason I just can't keep them alive here????? Any ideas?

Yours look so nice Lynne and Tina. I still do not know what I am going to plant mine in so right now it is in a tupperware container, in dirt, on my windowsill.
I had an idea of putting a bunch of hardy succulents in a wheelbarrel. Think it would work, deep enough and all that???

I have no idea of any special tricks. My neighbor gave me a chick and I stuck it in the ground. No food, not too much water. I do not know what your problems might be.

Good idea. I just joined but I have to post a give first. And I have not gotten to that point yet. It will be garage sale season soon.
Until then, or I find a cool pot for mine, it will sit on the windowsill.

I do not think that is a Sempervirium. It is either a Aeoniums or Echeveria.
I do not want to sound like a commercial but I grow lots of Semps...I have learned the following.
Sempervirum, when they bloom they die. If you have blooms and it survives. It is not a Semp/Hens and Chick.
People in zone 8-9 can grow Aeoniums and Echeveria outside. We cold people have to grow them indoors.
If hens and chicks are kept indoors they will bloom and die. They are alpine plants so they need the chill period to grow and produce.
Semps are the opposite of a tender house plant....If you put a houseplant outside in the cold it will die. If you keep Semps in warm without the chill they bloom and die.
I grow mine on a bed of 50/50 gravel/soil. They are outside under snow and ice and come spring they have made babies under the snow. They grow in cold dry areas.

Listen to Cinta ladies, she knows more than I do on this subject. I can grow a lot of things just because I'm in zone 9 but it doesn't mean I really know what I'm doing. Everything is trial and error and I'm always working on IDing the things I have. While you're around Cinta/Aud, have you a correct name for "old man's bones"? And maybe a link to a pic?

Tina, I have heard the term "old man's bones" but my old mind is not clicking as to which plant it is. Do you have a pic?
I do not know that much just the few plants I have tried. I just love succulents and sedum. They are so pretty and easy. Not so demanding for water. Some people over water I am one that may throw some water at a plant if I think of it and they love my treatment. LOL!!!!
Tina, I wish I had your weather I would probably have a yard full of succys.

No, someone offered me some 'old mans bones and I'm wondering what it is. But if you lived in my zone, you'd start missing your peonies,and lilacs and.... And succ's are great but then I see some glads I want or some iris or some.... I want it all.
