My youngest son has started working part-time at a big gardening and do-it-yourself store in the UK, to supplement him going to college.
He came home a couple of weeks ago with some lovely bulbs for me, already potted up. He just wanted to say thanks and that he appreciated all i did for him. i was really touched.
I put them on the window sill in the lounge as its south facing, and although it's very cold, its still very sunny. They came up absolutely beautifully, but didn't last very long.
I want to keep them for next year.....does anyone know when to cut them down and do i just store them in a dark place til next year?

You need to let the foliage gain strength for next years blooms, so don't cut them back until they die back naturally. Keep them in a sunny window until then. Hyacinths and tulips require an extended cold period to bloom, so you'll need to place them in a cold place this fall/winter. If you want them to bloom indoors, put them in the refrigerater for about 10 weeks. I've actually never tried to keep my indoor bulbs until the next year, so good luck! You could also plant them outside.
