My curiosity has led me to Astrophytums... Browsing the internet and various books i've taken a liking to them, especially Astrophytum Asterias "Sea Urchin/Sand Dollar Cactus".

I've read that they're quite rare? Yet easy to grow from seed what with their naturally rapid growth. Does anyone have any info on them they could share, anything is appreciated...

They are lovely plants and stay small. The flowers are beautiful yellow with orange throat. They may be rare in nature, but almost anyplace that sells cactus has them at some point. Alas, they are quite rot-prone and must be kept drier than I kept mine. I'm thinking of getting another. I don't know about "naturally rapid growth," most cacti are pretty slow.

Astrophytum Ornatum is another good one. Mine is larger than the ones in the pic but has not yet flowered.
