I have a problem with my lilacs dying off. Each year I have to remove dead branches down to the root. Would I need to move them or are they lacking nutrients?

We just had this problem as well, not saying what we did was the right thing, but we really cut it back, took out all the dead stuff, the suckers, and gave it some miracle grow. We will see how it fairs this year.
Curious to see what others say.

MICKEY,
I don't really have an answer but wanted some more questions answered...

How old is the lilac?

Where is the lilac placed, by a house, out in the open, by a black walnut??

What is the growing conditions the lilac is in, ie: soil, water, what kind of fert's, if any?

And Welcome fellow New Yorker!!!
