I have ants on my aloe plant. Will they damage it? Is there a safe way to get rid of them without bothering the plant?

Ants should not bother the plant. Ants for the most part will not harm a living plant, actually they eat away at dead tissue which cleans the plant, or eat the pests which are bothering it.

or they are farming aphids and scale on the plant. I would check for any insects closely on the plant. Watch the ants and see what they are doing.. that will give you a clue.
