Hi...I was wondering short of going to the lumber store and buying 4x8's or along those lines. Is there anything cheaper to use. We want to make a few veggie gardens.

What I use for my raised beds are the landscaping timbers. I bought mine at Wal-Mart about 5 years ago at the end of the season when they tear down the beds they make. They were 2 for $1.00 and I bought 60 of them. I think they were selling them for a dollar a piece last year, but that's still a good deal. Here's picture of one my beds, but you can make them longer or higher if you wish. I know this doesn't help you this year, but you can keep it in mind if you want to add more next year.
Hope this helps!

It's not advisable to use treated timber for vegies. Unless you perhaps line the structure with a waterproof liner, like builders plastic. I use bales of straw. Then add them to the beds as mulch as they break down.

I've seen them one time in a plant magazine and they called them candle flowers and I never did find them again...I'd love to find some.

Those are Arum italicum *it's the only picture I could find with both the berries and the flower..*
It's in the Jack~in~the~Pulpit type family.. The flower is hooded.. and is white.. then little by little the green berries appear..
Then as the summer warms up, they start to turn green to orange from the top down...
And they are gone by the end of summer believe it or not.. and they regrow in the fall time and... THE LEAVES STAYYYYYYYY GREEN ALLLLLLLL WINTER LONG UP HERE IN GROWING ZONE 5....
What growing zone are you?? They are usually up to like 9 and preferr, I believe, cooler temps.. *gosh if they can stay green all winter and not even be phazed by it..*
