Does anybody know if it's possible to successfully grow watermelons in a container. My kids spit their seeds in an empty pot we had and we have a pretty nice plant growing now with blossoms and all, but wondered whether it was realistic to hope for fruit from it. Any thoughts?

How big is the plant now???
And what kind was it, one of those big watermelon's or like a baby~mini one???

You can always hope and stay positive
about it..
If it was seeded and sprouted early enough,
I don't see why not that you couldn't get one...

And maybe if you see a few female flowers,
you can leave at least like 3 and make sure those one's ripen fully...

And sometimes, things in containers ripen faster..and if they were the mini's...
with any luck.. you should be able to...

I don't see why not, if the pot is large enough. And if you got fruit, you could prop the melons on a nearby table.... [Wink]
What fun - and I hope it works for ya !

yes you can, just make sure that once the flowers have pollinated and the fruit is growing larger then a golfball, to have sunshine one them!! They LOVE the sun and will grow fast and big in the suns ray!! Also the watermelon plants take a good DEEP watering each day, I keep my soil moist in the heat we have(high 90's to over 100), dont SOAK it all at once, a slow drizzle for about 5 minutes twice a day should do the job. Good luck!!
