Does anyone know if this tree is hardy in zones 7/8? I really want to get one but am not sure if I should keep it as an indoor tree or outdoor.

My sweet bay is 20 feet tall now.... Its a cool tree! It gets a lot colder here than at your house, so I'm sure you can grow one.... Want some Bay Leaves?

Really Bay leaves come off of a tall tree? I didn't know that. But then I don't know lots of things. I wonder is there a dwarf variety of the tree?

That is so good to know. I have not had fresh bay leaves since we left CA. My mom had a tree in her back yard.
I would love some leaves Bill. Happen to have an extra sapling hanging around?

My books all say that Sweet Bay maxes out at 8-12 feet. I guess my Bay just likes it here...

Is that California or Cananada? I haven't seen any saplings or seedlings, but she flowers and probably produces seeds, I will check, and at the very least send you some fresh leaves....

I Lived in Carmel Valey CA for a while. The Bay Laurel (I think it was bay laurel) grew in the wild all over the hills out there. If I needed a bay leaf all I needed to do was go pick one. Such a lovely smell...Most of the ones in the hills around my house were 4-5 ft bushes..Is that the same plant??
