Zone 5 here. I haven't cut them back yet... should I have? They are pretty young, and I figured I would let them grow through the summer, and cut them back in the fall?

Hi Jody...I cut mine back just after the first hard freeze fries the foliage. You can read all about the care of Peonies right here at Garden Helper.

I usually wait until it is cooler before I cut mine back, and I also clean the bed out at that time to, so not in a real big hurry to do that just yet.

I'm in a warmer zone and mine are still green. I don't expect to have to do mine for another several weeks. I have stopped fertilizing them so they can begin getting ready for winter.
