I didn't want to steal the thread on trumpet vine, so I'm posting these pictures that I took this afternoon of the grass near one of my rose of sharons - can't believe that you don't get any seedlings!
This is only 1 small area...
Even after mowing they keep going, and going, and going...
I don't know how I'm going to pull all of these out! [dunno]

close-up... anyone wanna come get some? [dunno] [Roll Eyes] [perplexed]

Wow, Lynne, I never see that many seedlings around my ROS shrubs. [shocked] I tend to be a little obsessive about pinching off spent flowers to avoid the self-seeding plus pruning them in late summer eliminates the dried seed pods before they open. You might try vinegar or boiling water to eradicate the little jewels?

My two favorite "Althea" ROS's are sterile and don't produce seeds. Maybe that is the type Alan is growing?

That is an amazing number of babies. They must be in perfect conditions at your house.

That's amazing...I get absoulutely none...not one...nothing. Not that I'm complaining, though. It looks like you could start your own ROS nursery!

So, Alan... how much do you think I could charge a piece?!? [dunno]
I just picked probably about 50 or so, before Don mows them down while cutting the grass!
I would have gotten more, but the sweat was pouring off of me... -

For now they are in a jar... [thumb]
They have a long skinny taproot.

Pot them up and by next spring they should be well rooted and ready for planting. You could get a few bucks each, don't you think? :-) Or you could give them to your neighbors, friends, family, people walking down the street, the mailman, the meter reader, your hairdresser....

Funny Alan!!!

Just a few years ago I was begging the mailman to take some cherry tomato seedlings that I had waaaaaaaaay too many of - he did willingly!

Now it's ROS! [Roll Eyes]
