Could someone tell me if a bare root will bloom the first summer? Many of the roses that I want to order from a catalog come bare root and I am not familiar with them.

hi there! yea they should but it depends on how early in the season you plant them. if you plant them early enough they will. I've planted a rose bush that was bareroot and it grew fine and had really pretty flowers that same year! good luck! and welcome to the forum!

If you've never planted bare root roses, make sure you follow the planting directions that come with them so you plant them at the right soil level for your zone. And, as Jamie said, they will probably flower the first year. Bare root roses can be planted in late winter if the soil is not frozen and is workable.
