I've seen it listed in several mail order catalogs the last 2 years, and really like it, but was reluctant to order it because the prices were a little to high ( from $10 to $20 for a 3 or 4 inch pot). I went to Lowe's this afternoon and was just looking around and came across a metal shelf with plants on the bottom shelf waiting to be put up. It was the same plant! Their price was $4.43 for a gallon container...so I got 3 of them. Here'a photo of the bloom.

Hey I like that flower a lot. Never heard of it, but I may have to get that because I know its going to be easy to grow.

* Hey are they easy to take care of?
* Do their seeds spread rapidly though-out the garden?

--> I like those type of flowers that are easy to take care of and grow very fast and grow on their own every spring.

Thanks in advance...

OK, now I have to check out Lowes on a more regular basis. I've been wanting the 'Fanfare' for a couple of years as well.
I posted a pic of my blanket flower along a fence.
Fanfare differ from regular blanket flowers in that each petal around the center is 'rolled' into a trumpet-shape.

Okay, Diane, go back and take a another peak at Alan's flower again...
and look closely at the petals on the flower..

It's like what Tina discribed in her above post..
The individual petal is trumpeted shaped, and flared at each end...

Those have been on my wish list since I saw them come out...

**Alan, You've been looking for them for awhile too.

What a great bonus find!!!

*Michael,
I know the regular Gallardia's are very easy to take care of...... very drought tolerant...
and if you don't deadhead the flowers...
**I usually wait until the end, then let a bunch go to seed...*
And mine do re~seed, but not alot...

I haven't grown that new variety, so they may not
act the same way, dunno!!!

According to the tag that came with it, it prefers full sun and semi-moist soil and has fast growth. I assume it is like most other blanket flowers and will reseed. I went back today and bought 3 more...I have a serious problem....

I went back and looked! I agree the petals on the tips are not formed the same however I could only go by the tag in the pot and the colors are the same so is the one I have a different variety?? This one says Arizona Sun guess that may make a Difference [dunno] Now I';m really disappointed that I don't have what I thought I did [Embarrassed] Thanks sooooooo much for pointing that out When I get it all confirmed I think I'll give my nursery a call and let them know it's not the same thing!

Diane,
You'll still be happy with those..
They are a bright, happy sunshiney flower..
And they don't quit if you keep them deadheaded..

They've got a nice long sturdy stem too for
cutting and bringing them into the house for a vase..
