Help, I'm a new gardener, so excuse my ignorance.
I planted hollyhocks a week or so ago, from bareroot, and they have already sprouted! I don't think this is right. I thought it was cool enough, maybe not? What should I do now? Let them die with the frost? They are currently mulched well. Are they a total loss or will they come back in the spring?
I'm in zone 7
Help!!!

Yep, mother nature does that to those plants... She drops seeds in the late summer/fall time, they have time to sprout and set roots... and will stay fine over the winter...
Maybe even the leaves you see now, may get frosted, and die back.. but they will retain as much "food" as they can until they get nipped.. and the stalk from below will set out new leaves come spring..
Like Moondance said, they'll come back with a vengeance! They're quite a hardy plant..
Although they don't live long as the "mommma plant" but they do prolifically reseed themselves, so be aware of what the "baby leaves" look like, you'll find them sprouting up in the neatest places!!!!
And P.S. Howdager, Welcome to The Garden Helper's Forum by the way, we're very glad you found us!!!!

Thanks for the advice! So I don't need to cut back or anything? That seems too easy, that's great!
