I have a azalea bush that I found on my property while my husband and I were cleaning up the yard.It was hidden in a lot or brush and weeds. It's very small and one side the stems are dead but the other side is still green and has a few leaves remaining{very few leaves mind you}.What can I do to restore it's health and bring it back to life. Also,I am a beginner gardener so I have no idea what I'm doing,But I enjoy having a pretty yard and am looking foward to learning.

I would trim off the dead parts and fertilize with something for acid loving plants. In the fall you may want to prune it back a little more - after it blooms.

I agree with Bestofour. You've already fixed the primary problem by cleaning away the weeds and brush. Fertilize with cottonseed meal or Holly-Tone, both acid fertilizers. Also, water well every week or 2 when it starts to get hot. Your azalea is obviously weakened and will be more susceptible to lacebugs which seem to thrive when azaleas are under drought stress. Just don't let the azalea become waterlogged.

You might also try SuperThrive, especially since it is the start of spring. It can be used in conjunction w/ your fertilizing, as it is vitamins for the stressed or newly transplanted plant.

I have used it for some time, and I am pleased w/ the resiliance plants show when I use it.
