Hello...would like to find a fall flowering plant for a small container that could be handled by grade-school aged kids...approx. 25-30 kids. Would prefer to plant from seed. Any suggestions?

I can't think of anything that you could plant by seed this late and get blooms. You might try an herb like sage or oregano because they germinate fairly quickly. Also, this time of year you can usually find small containers of mums just about everywhere.

It is kind of late, but I like Asters for fall color. You may find them in pots and transplant them if you need color immediately. If you are waiting until next year you can find Aster seeds in many places next spring.

MARIGOLDS.. They root really easy, and I think take alot of abuse...
Are these things, the kids would plant and take home to mom...???...for inside the house...?? or something you want to plant by seed and plant outside before snow falls????
