My father passed away wed 2/16/05 and I have a piece of cut bird of paradise from his flowers. Is there anyway to plant it and make it grow so it doesn't die? I am real new at gardening as he was the one with 10 green thumbs. Any advise would be appreciated.

I am sincerely sorry over your loss. I don't have any advice to offer for your BOP, but wanted to offer my condolences. Welcome to the board and I am sure someone will be here to instruct you about the plant.

I'm so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I think BOPs propagate from division or seed, but I'm not an expert, so let's hope someone who is has better news for you. Also, I think one of the forum hostesses will move your question over to the plants and flowers section, where you will have better luck receiving an appropriate response. I hope it works out for you, and welcome to the forum.

vbraudrn, Welcome to The Garden Helper's Forum!!' We are very glad you found us!!!
I just wanted to let you know I was going to move your post into the PLANTS AND FLOWERS SECTION, You'll get a few more responses in that section... There's several gardener's that I know do grow those and will be able to help you!!!
Also, if you'd like to do a FORUM SEARCH, and type in BOP or BIRD OF PARADISE, you should get a few posts to come up of some previous posts.
Hope this helps a bit!!!
