I'm was quite upset today when I went outside and saw my daffodils and maybe tulips popping up. Some even had buds on them. Lots of them were already yellow. What should I do? I was thinking of mulching them, but I was afraid that would warm them up too much and make them come out even more. My husband suggested building some sort of a greenhouse around the area and just letting them bloom whenever they bloom. My other option (if they're not too far gone already), is to just dig them up and pot them for inside, seeing as I was planning on moving them in the fall anyway. My son and I planted these together in the fall-he seemed happy to see them coming up, but I'm afraid they won't make it much longer. I'm in zone 6-7, and it's 51 degrees here today, but it's still only in the 20's at night, and they're calling for a cold front again on Friday. I'm really stumped! Thanks for any advice!

Wow, wish I could expect to see my Daffs anytime soon, lol! Well, since I'm up here in Illinois it'll be at least March before they poke through the soil from their long winter nap. [sleepy]
Daffs are amazingly hardy and the cold temps shouldn't bother them at all. I've even had Daffs bloom the day after being coated with ice from a late storm! I wouldn't dig them up and pot them as they are aclimatized to the weather outside now and would probably die off in the house. Just enjoy them where they are and plant on moving them in the fall or after the leaves die back completely. Hope this helps! Welcome to the Group! [wayey]

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intent of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming,
"WHOO HOO! WHAT A RIDE!"

Wow! What a relief! I can handle seeing some daffs right about now! I never would have thought that they would survive this weather, but if everybody else has had luck, then hopefully I will as well! I was wondering-is it possible that this happened because I maybe didn't plant them deep enough? They're down about 6 inches. Just a thought, I don't know. thanks for the help!
