I have a hybiscus which has been indoors for the past two years due to excessive exposure. I need to prune the plant but want to know how to prune, when and how far back can I prune the plant.

Try this site http://www.widebaytrader.com/index.html They tell when and how to cut Hibiscus to start to root which if I were you I would start more plants with the cuttings off this plant. Good luck. Jimmy

I pruned my indoor hibiscus back last fall by half without harming it, but I've been told since to prune plants back by 1/3.

hi,my hibiscus is only outside in sommer and get a nice winterrest in a cool room,it is now a little tree,i pruned it hard this spring with no harm,i was told to prune when not in bloom.the clippings root easily in water,the ones i raise as a tree don`t get a winterrest the first year to keep them growing. uki

My best friend lives WI in Blackcreek.She has a hibiscus a tropical one.She cuts hers back by a 3rdAnd in the winter gives it nitrogen fertilizer.she trims back when the kiddies go to school.she just did the fertilizer thing this last winter cause it looked so ratty lst year.Thyey have gas heat,but use a woodstove too keep the chill off in liveingroom as it gets so cold.it also sits in east faceing window,she can't do south as are wrong rooms....the kids& bathroom and bathroom not heated(she glued fur to toilet seat...yes.shes a blonde True one too)If your hibiscus is a hardy type you could cut all the way back as new stalks emerge each spring.I've sent her hardy one but she just grows from seed by winter sowing.she swears she plants in jugs and they get covered with snow and in spring stuff sprouts.
