I have potatoes growing in a barrel, and I noticed today, tiny flower bud looking things on one piece. Do potatoes flower?

[grin] yes it is very cool.

When the flowers open, you can gently dig around the base of the plant and collect some small potatoes.

I'm always excited to see the blooms.New potatoes are so good.

Should you wait for the plant to start dying back?
