I have two tomatoes about as big around as my thumb! It is the stupice heirlooms that have them. One per plant. Now if the dang masked rodent doesn't get them!!!

I may be getting slightly paranoid. [nutz]

The "masked rodent" is that a racoon???
I put things around things sometimes,
to thwart culprits like that..
Old metal slinkies, tomato cages on their sides...
things that'll fall over if they hit them..
boobie~traps!!!!

Hey, I'll do just about anything
to thwart those evil doer's in the garden...

I went out to my lettuce *(romaine)* patch
to get a salad, and a bunch of plants were
stripped clean, *they left the ribs of the
lettuce and ate the tender leaves..Grrrrrrrrr!*

I laid and waited for those slimey s*cker's to
come out, and I slammed `em with a rock...
Got about 5 slugs...

But I get that alot where they're eatin' stuff..
Somebody gave my Swiss Chard a hair cut too!!!
*rabbits or woodchucks* but I left them on the
ground, and I know I shouldn't have...

Keep thinkin' of things to scare them varmits off.

I call it the masked rodent because I have no clue what it actually is. I have never seen the evil doer. I am pretty sure tho, it is a rabbit. There are a lot of them around this year.

Find some fox urine!!!
It's a predator's scent that will keep
those types of critters away,
you do have to re~apply!!!!

The Godfather of Raccoons??? [Big Grin] [Big Grin] I love it. Every notice in all the movies the raccoons are the ones with the evil (and really funny)sense of humor? Mean little devils.

My thumb sized heirloom tomatoes are now golfball size or a mite bigger. The early girl is now getting ready to have some tomatoes (blooms are fading) and the sugar girl is getting big though it hasn't bloomed as yet. It was attacked by the masked rodent so I don't know if the recovery time is going to make it too late to have tomatoes. But I am quite happy with the progress. Here's hoping I can bite into a homegrown tomato sometime in the near future.
