I just bought an asian pear tree and I didn't think much of it at the time, but when I was planting it, I noticed the tips are black. I was wondering if there is anyone on here for sure that can tell me that the pix shows signs of a bacteria infection called fire blight? Can anyone offer any suggestion if that was the case? Possibly, the tips of the branches have been cut off, but the distinguishing feature of fire blight is a typical "shepherds crook" of blackened leaves and stem. The leaves are cut off so it's not definite, but I'd say it's likely. To be safe, cut the end of the branches off at least 6-12 inches below the lowest visible infection.
