Last year we planted Better Boy and Better Bush. They both were outstanding!!! Best year we ever had. Don't know what the secret was but you can rest assured, they'll be planted again. We DID fertilize every couple of weeks with 10-10-10 as our ground is sandy. We get pretty hot here and also have high humidity. But anyway, that's my 2 cents worth. I've had them inground now for 2 weeks so will likely fertilize tomorrow.I also have a ant condo to dust tomorrow.I bought some cheaper ant stuff,but don't work as well as the higher costing stuff. I pay a little more and buy 8 plants. Four Better Boy and four Better Bush. Since there are just the 2 of us, I have plenty to eat freah, cook down, and share. Member # 654 posted                       I have always grown Better Boy's....in my opinion they are the best tomato!!! I have never grown any tomatoes from seed....I always get a couple of 6 packs. I loooooooooooove tomatoes. In the past I have found that digging in lemon/orange rinds and let them decompose underground where you are going to plant the next year a great success.....I guess they love the acidity from the rinds....and each year I move the bushes over one spot as to not plant in last years holes. When planting I also toss and mix in one handful of triple 15 fertilizer before planting. Tried a few other varieties many years ago along with the better boys...but wasn't impressed with the taste/texture(meatiness)/skin etc. I have never heard of the better bush....how do they rank compared to better boy tomatoes? Diseases etc.???? I was thinking about planting some Juliets as well...that is if I can find them this year. I have been sick so haven't got my maters in yet. Mine will be planted next week (hopefully). I'm in the same boat as you are "Cat". I've been down with an ear infection for a couple of weeks myself. As far as the Better Bush go, they seem to be about the same as the Better Boys, except that the stems are really thick and sturdy. Still have to tie them up. The yield last year was great. I know I'll never get that much again, but I love growing them anyway. You're right, eating them is the best part.
