I'm in Zone 5....NE Pennsylvania. I'd like to start a small Strawberry patch. Do I want plants or seeds? I don't know anyone around me that has strawberries to ask. Any advice on what kind?? I'd just like some fresh Strawberry Shortcake. Thanks!! Tamra

Hello Freytam, Welcome to The Garden Helper's Forum! We are very glad you found us!!!
I'm just going to make a quick post here, and tell you to go do a FORUM SEARCH and type in STRAWBERRIES, you should come up with a few entries on them.... We've had a few posts on growing them here.
I'll be back later this evening and give you some more pointers and hints of what I know!!!

I am not too into seeds, especially from strawberries, but I do know they are very easy to grow from a plant, say like a 6 pk you buy in the nurseries, and will multiply fast for you as well...
Don't hesitate to ask more questions if you didn't find the info you're looking for....

Freytam, Nourse Farms is a good strawberry nursery. They have 26 different varieties of strawberries. They specify which are best for fresh eating, freezing, yield, season, and hardiness. They also discuss planting and culture.
