I have a parlor plam which is about 30 years old. It was just a little thing when I bought it and now it is a large floor plant. However, it's one stalk is very spindly and must be supported by a stick--can I air layer the plant to try to lop it off and start again or should I leave it alone. Is there anything I can do to thicken it up so it will be self-supporting?
