Author Garden: Jade plant with coated leaves. igrow Gardener Member # 4617 posted                    My large jade plant has a coating on some of it's leaves that looks like they were sprayed with hairspray. The thin whitish powdery flakes fall to the table below and are NOT sticky. Did it have that stuff when you bought it? What i'm thinking is that its probably your fertalizer, or water. When you water your plants with water that has mineral deposits, or fertalizer in it, the water will evaporate, leaving spots behind. My begonia had those i think. Can you peel it off?
