Author Garden: Foxglove Jonathans Funma Gardener Member # 4718 posted                       This last weekend I purchased a Foxglove from Home Depot. We transplanted it and it looked wonderful...until today. I got home and the leaves are lying flat and one of the spikes of blooms was bent over touching the ground. The soil I use for potting is an Organic compost type. It has shade most of the morning and full sun in the afternoon. It is such a beautiful plant and I hate to see it withered like this. Foxgloves are very pretty indeed... Got a question or two, How deep did you plant it? Equal with the soil level or below or higher??? How's your temps' where you are right now? HOT????????????? So maybe some of that stuff for plants that suffer from transplant shock? Weezie...the temp here is right around 70 during the day, 55-60 at night (spring weather in Phoenix is wonderful!) The roots are just under the surface of the soil I used, and it's in a pot larger than the one that it came in. I was worried that I over watered it when I transplanted it? The soil I used is Garden Soil enriched with Miracle Grow, and I have a slow release plant food that I intended on using once it settled in. This afternoon it looked the same as yesterday, not worse, but not any better. Thank you so much for helping, I don't want to lose this plant. Just checking up on them?? Still doing reasonable okay now? Looking better, not better, middle somewher'es? Let me know!!! Weezie I might not have used the Miracle Grow soil.. Those types of plants like lean regular garden soil...sometimes those bags of soil are enriched with too much nitrogen for certain plants ... Just very curious how they are doing. The plant doesn't appear to look any worse, maybe a bit better? The blooms on the spikes are opening so it can't be that bad off, can it? Do you think I should replant it in a leaner type of soil like you mentioned? Or, should I leave it alone and see what happens? Where can I go to determine what kind of soil I should use for different plants? Your kindness and helpfulness is greatly appreciated my friend. Thank you! Member # 772 posted                       Kym, I'd say, leave it alone, if they look okay, are standing straight up~and flowers are opening, sounds like it's doing okay!!! Here's some info on them from Bill's main pages here at The Garden Helper. Foxgloves info from TGH And you can ask any and all questions right here, for any plant info you need... We have all different types of sections here for plants, trees, veggies, etc. And even a Mystery Section here too, just in case you don't know what the plant is... Member # 1423 posted                       Leave them alone. Sometimes when you replant foxglove that is already blooming the bloom doesn't stay erect.
