Hey Gang,

I decided to bottom water my 2" English Ivy and was amazed at how I could just stand there and watch the water being "drank" up [Wink] Does that mean the roots were really thirsty and is it better than top watering?????
As usual, I appreciate all your help and advise.

Hi Sy,
Bottom watering is best if you have a plant that doesn't like water on it's leaves such as African violet. It does also work well if you either aren't watering deeply enough or if the plant is very rootbound. I find it's best to water so that the water runs into the saucer. If the water isn't absorbed in an hour, I empty the saucer.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
