I mentioned on another thread that I had gotten some blue Tibeton poppy seeds today. The packet says when indoor sowing to:

1) place the pot in a polythene bag in warmth for 2 weeks and then
2) transfer to the main compartment of a refrigerator , where germination should begin after 2 more weeks

has anyone done/heard of this? [critic] [gabby]
It also says "and yes, you really must remove those flowers in the first year to allow the plant to build up strength"
Do I REALLY HAVE TO? [Eek!] [tears] [shocked]
I don't know if I have the willpower to do that if they even get that far!!! [dunno]

How exciting!! Isn`t it fun to try new plants! GOOD LUCK! Can`t wait to see pictures, how`s that for positive attitude.

I have never grown these, our summers are to hot. I know nothing about this plant, but my book says that taking those blooms off makes the plant live longer.

That is an interesting way of germinating them, I`ve heard of cooling the seeds before planting but not after. LOL!

Lynne,

Will these work as a annual or perrenial for you in your neck of the woods? We get a LOT of hot above 90 degree temps here in PA...so they probably wouldn't work for me as a perrenial? They are VERY pretty and look cottagey, which I love.

Barb~

I don't think they will be perennial, but if I am lucky enough to get some flowers this year, I'm hoping to have lots of seeds for next year, etc.

I think we are in the same zone - 6?
