Ok, so I have started the HUGE flower bed where the pond was supposed to go. (still having a problem with this) [nutz]

I have been looking at plants to put in their bed, and came across some I know nothing about. So I am asking you guys or is it people? dont want to offend any of the fairer sex. [Frown]

Here is what I need info on if anyone knows.
1. Purple Heart
2. Blue Festuca ornamental grass
3. Japanese Blood grass?? I think that was it.
4. Double Snowdrops??

I am trying to use MSpaint to create a design with.(trying to brush up on computer skills.) IF and when I finish it, I will post it for everyone to see.(another reason for my screen name) [Big Grin] [nutz]

Also, any and all ideas for plants would be great, I just want year around color and the plants have to take the full hot Georgia sun. I can use some tall plants, medium height and small/short also as this will be tiered.

I have already planned on butterfly bushes of different colors around the back and a couple of rose bushes. Other than that, I am open to ideas.
And yes the rubber room with the special coat has already been suggested. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Hiya Frustrated! (wow, why didn't I think of that screenname???)

Here's the info you wanted:

1) Purple Heart

2) Blue Grass Ornamental

3) Japanese Blood Grass Which BTW, I've never seen or heard of, VERY cool.

4) Double Snowdrop

As far as your graphics are concerned.... I'm a digital graphic artist by trade (www.visionized.com), if you need some help or whatnot...I'd be glad to assist.

I am not an architect, so I can't help you on the specialty coated rubberroom. [perplexed] I just hide in my bathroom and pound my head against the wall in private. Seems to work. [Smile]

Hi Frustrated,
Great sites from Calzgal. Another one for your purple heart that might be helpful is this one. It's hardy to zone 8, though I don't know what your zone is.
http://www.floridata.com/ref/t/trad_pal.cfm

Here's some sites where you can search for bloom times and get the names of plants.
http://www.perennials.com/
http://www.main.nc.us/naturenotebook/plantindex.html

This one is for bulb info.

Here's some sites you can use to get information on plants.
http://www.floridata.com/main_fr.cfm?state=ref_master&viewsrc=lists/plists.cfm?list=type
http://www.hort.uconn.edu:591/search.html

You might also want to think about everblooming and reblooming daylilies - Hemerocallis. You can do a search at www.google.com and put in the search box terms like:
Hemerocallis + everbloom
Hemerocallis + rebloom

Hope this helps,
Newt

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Isn't it awful when people throw all that at you at once? [nutz] I'm certain with a bit more time you'll be able to design a lovely garden with long term bloom.

Good luck with it,
Newt

Yea, it certainly can overwhelm you, but I have seen some plants that would look great in my new flower garden. Thanks again for all the help.

I am in zone 7 bordering on zone 8, so I may try some tropical plants of some kind.
