Here is a blue gentian that was put in about 6 weeks ago (a gift from another garden). The donor was growing this in shade so we put it in behind the austrian pine. It certainly isn't dying but it doesn't seem to grow that fast. Has anyone ever worked with this plant? * * * * When sorting seeds, do not whistle.

Thanks Weezie - that makes me feel better. Should I take it in for the winter or just leave it in the ground? * * * * When sorting seeds, do not whistle.

I'm here in Toronto, Canada. We have a good growing season. Frost around the beginning of November - we start gardening around mid-April. I don't know what zone it is. Can't tell from that map either. Guess we'd be the same as New York? I dunno' . . . :-0 * * * * When sorting seeds, do not whistle.

Carly, Can you keep taking some pic's of it, as weeks go by... To see it's progress or lack of?? They're growing requirements: Soil Type -Sandy loam Soil pH - slightly acidic to neutral Light - Full sun Water - Moist to wet (but not too wet) You said that the people before you had them also in the shade??? Where theirs small too???? And are they 100% sure it's a gentian??? Just curious??? Weezie * * * * Weezie Don't forget to be kind to strangers. I don't know - when I do meet her mother, I'll ask. It's her daughter who brings the plants to me from their country property. I'm wondering if I should move it - I don't know where to put it - there are very few spots on the lot that get full sun (except the retaining wall in the parking lot). I don't want to put it there. * * * * When sorting seeds, do not whistle.
