((yawn)) Good Morning! The six-foot corn plant on our patio has finally produced a bud that is beginning to open, but, now the leaves have turned a sick, yellow color. It's been sooo happy until now. Have I over/under-watered it? I gave it a shot of iron last summer and it got very green and lush. Does it need more iron? Help!

Hi Jilly, I've found that when a potted plant has leaves that turn yellow it usually means that the plant is rootbound and needs to be repotted. Could this be your problem?

Holy cow! I never thought of that...I repotted it a year ago after it had grown for 10 years in only a gravel-filled pot, & it went crazy..Maybe it made massive roots in this time...I'll give it a go this weekend. Thanks, Newt!!!!
BTW, the bloom isn't exactly pretty...kinda knarly, so if I interrupt the flowering process, it won't be a big loss
