Folks, I need help and it may be too late.

I received a bird of paradise in May from a good friend as a departing gift from my job. It had two small leaves when I got it, and i placed it in the most sunny place I could find and ignored it. In this area - lowcountry south carolina - it's very humid and hot in the summer, and we had a good deal of rain this year. The plant thrived and had about ten leaves on it and I though it was doing well. This winter when it got colder than 50 degrees at night, I brought the plant indoors and placed it near a window that gets morning sunlight. The leaves started turning brown and appeared "burned". I thought I had not watered it enough, so I gave it about a watering pot full of water each week.

Today I checked the plant and found all the green foliage was dead. Will the plant re sprout, or is this plant DOA? Help [Eek!]

[wayey] welcome to the garden helper rhseabrook [wayey] i don't have your answer, but there are lots of folks who know a lot about bird of paradise plants. we also have a lot of folks from the lowcountry (myself including, i live just across the state line in ga), like mom54. hang around and someone will be able to answer your question. in the meantime, enjoy looking around, and you might even want to do a forum search to see what has been said already! again, welcome [wayey]
