Well, I'm a long way from California (in KY), but mine die back to nothing every winter, then pop up out of the ground in the spring and are big and beautiful in no time!
I just LOVE those things!

Hi Weezy, Thank you for the reply. The peoney was about 2 feet high and grew about a half foot. I planted it last spring from a gallon container. It was one branch with leaves stretching about one and a half feet across on smaller branches...and another new branch coming up from the bottom about 8 inches long. One day it was green and the next day the leaves were brown. Now all the leaves have wilted up. Guess its time to cut it back?

I had wondered how old the plant was... I wanted to make sure you knew not to get discouraged, if your plant didn't flower right away.... That it wasn't the frosting hurting your plant if it didn't bloom, it's just in the plants' nature.....to get re~established before blooming.
Do you know what color you got??? There are soooooo many!!!
I have white one's, pink outter and white inside and a yellow!!!

:Duh:I have no idea how old the peony is.... I bought it at K-MART and the tag on it had a picture of the flower...white with pale pink center. I will care for the area where it's planted and I have no plans to transplant it. I already have permanent stakes in place for it. I'm in no rush for it to bloom because it is so small...I just want to see it grow for when it's ready to hold the blooms Plants: 4 | From: Redding Calif | Registered: Nov 2004
