My Double Impatiens leaves are turning yellow - does anybody have any idea why? My Mandevilla's leaves are also turning yellow/brownish and falling off. I would love some help. It is making me crazy trying to figure out what is wrong - and this morning I stumbled upon this website - what a wonderful site.

Thanks for answering - I got these plants for mothers day - the Mandevilla's are in full sun and the impatients in shade. And yes we have had some rain - a friend suggested that I stop watering them - 3 times a week. I gave all my plants liquid fertilizer this weekend. Do you think I water to much (I am a total ignorant gardener)

hello and welcome. I have both plants, and I agree with Weezie.Sounds like too much water. You didn't say whether these plants are in pots. That makes a lot of difference. My rule of thumb for plants in pots.If it doesn't rain that day, water them. I never fertilize impations,(sp)sorry.I made that mistake a long time ago.I got lots of lush foliage and very few blooms. Hope that helps, again welcome. Shari

Vlakvark, I think Phil, one of our Master Gardeners' posted somewhere's here about when it water's so much that the rain just leaches thru and in general terms, just drains away from the plant any usefull nutrients.
*like a bully stealing it's food*
So, my personal favorite is Shultz Plus.. 10~60~10....gives it a bit of nitrogen, which it needs, but the 60 is for roots and flowering and fruits... and it'll get those roots going and feeding it'self!
Hope this info helps..

I have my mandevillia on arbor behind pond with white hycanith& moonflower vine.& I actually neglect it alot.It gets fertilized if I catch site of it when doing other plants& It gets a few drops of rain showers or a downpour and if I see it wilt will toss some water its way.It just started blooming again& think I actually fertilized it 2 weeks in a row for change.oh.It grows in part shade, but actually gets its sun hottest part of day.i'll probably Be moveing it next year cause will be re doing my pond............................BIGGER. and if the porch is done by then will go on and place there. If we get alot of rain is when I have some leaves go yellow on bottom, but has been when got rain almost a week just about daily.my fert is a high middle #(10-40-15) hey i got 4 seed pods seting on vine
as too impatients don't fertilie them at all just sprinkle compost on them around base and when flowers are done cut off for new to form.
