Hi, while planting some shrubs from a nursery we discovered a clump of small greenish, yellowish balls about 1 - 2mm in size along the side of the root ball when we depotted the shrub. Never saw anything like this before, but we are new to this gardening thing. Are they insect eggs or something else? They seemed to have a liquid center and were easily crushed.

Puzzled in Madison...

Greetings Chuck!
If the little balls were spread around the entire root ball, they are most likely time release fertilizer. If they were all clustered together, they are probably slug or snail eggs.
