just planted a pruned 5ft tall ,8"in diam banana tree and no growth yet;has developed a squishy spot on it halfway down and it smells very sour;please help!!

I had the same thing happen to one of my banana trees and unfortunately it didnt recover [Eek!] . I know you probably didnt want to hear that. Hopefully someone else has a solution.

thank you garden mom,I cut it below the fungal spot and am waiting to see if it regenerates.
