I have something that comes up in my flower beds constantly. Any time I turn the soil and plant something, all around it this "whatever" comes up too. It takes over very quickly. Someone told me that it's some type of oat. It does not flower, grows close to the ground like a ground cover, and has very shallow roots. In one area where there was a lot, I started at one end and rolled it up like a carpet. It goes away for a while, then comes right back. I ended up putting down plastic in a few places several months ago, but looking out my window, I can see it peaking through where the plastic must have separated. I have sprayed and removed it 10 or 12 times. What can it be? And, what can I do? [dunno]

It doesn't flower. Is around all year, winter through summer, drought or rain.

Someone said it was creeping jenny but I haven't seen a flower. Maybe I start spraying and pulling before it has time to flower. I've been given a recipe of borax to kill it.

Here's a picture of dollar weed:

Dollar weed, and weed list & pictures by region.

Select a region(where your home state is located)

(Western, North Central, Northeastern, Southern)

click: Weed listing

and/or Click: "Select a weed to view" window.

Bestofour,
I have creeping jenny, and it's not what I know as creeping jenny!
I actually saw that weed for sale at a garden center in the city when I went to the one perennial place I go to, that was one of the ones' I looked at the owner going, the things they'll sell!!!!!

But, I saw a way they did it in a pot, at a different place, and what a nice idea it was,
and you can put that stuff in a bowl and it'll collect with water and it'll still grow!!
Very Happily I might add!!!

But not the variety I'm used to!!! very large picture of creeping jenny

I will give you this............

Your's may be creeping jenny,
I just can 't tell by that picture

You'd be the better judge of it..

Are your leaves shiney???
Because creeping jenny is shiney,
the one you sent in the leave doesn't look shiney??

The leaves aren't shiny and I've been watching it and it does have a tiny, purple flower. I read somewhere to spray 20 Mule Team Borax on it. I'm gonna try that.
