I have just started a new tomato plant, I know not the best time, but I wanted to know when to start fertilizing it. It is about 1&1/2" above soil was was planted the first of this month.

When I plant my seedlings, I use alot of different organic fertilizers right at planting.
I use compost mostly!!! But I also use bone or blood meal, Cow manure. And compost tea foliar spray. I also use Epsom Salts for the plant to utilize the nutrition in the soil/dirt.
And Alfalfa Meal is also good and so is Fish Emulsion and Fish Meal.
I also sneak in once or twice something called "Spray~n~Grow" *I get it from QVC* it's a organic spray macronutrient spray, and it encourages blossoms and over all good health for the plant. Just in the beginning...
The organics in the soil are a slower process, but great for the plant, but the spray~n~grow is sort of instant because it's a foliar spray and is absorbed by the leaves almost instantly.

Always wait till your plants develop their first 'true leaves' before fertilizing! Those potting soils that contain fert. should be labeled...DO NOT USE TO START SEEDLINGS

Thank you both, cow manure should be the easiest thing to get. However, I will try to get at least spray and grow you recommended. And thanks to Phil and Laura for the help with starting fert. I should tell you know that I have Expert Gardener's Tomato Plant Food to use as a fert. just so you can tell me if it's good brand or not. Thanks again!
