I planted a nice, new large pot of Confederate Jasmine in one of my favorite flower beds. The soil is good and most things thrive planted there! The hardy Confederate Jasmine was to climb a center post. To my dismay...it looks almost dead. There are a few green leaves at it's base, but the majority are brown. I have Confederate Jasmine at my office in a planter out front. It stays beautiful all year with a hint of red in the leaves in the winter. Why on earth would the Confererate Jamine at home behave so badly? It was beatutiful all summer....I planted in early spring of last year. I have hopes it will revive since I can still see green, but don't understand it's obvious unhappy appearance. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help. (Sylacauga, Alabama)

welcome to the garden helper investor i don't know enough about jessamine to give you an answer, but my first thought would be the orientation by way of sunlight/shade and wind. those two things combined with possible watering differences would make the difference in the happiness of the plant. let us know and keep us posted!
btw, someone will probably be around to help you with better info.

it may return by the roots may scratch on the wood y stem and see if is still alive.I don't know where in AL you are exactly zone wise but know survives KY.you mentioned browning of leaves could be it was in a wet spot and could be why leafs turned.I don't grow this but would like too for the smell and blooms have heard about..........you say it does have green leaves at base so is HOPEmaybe some frost is what turned leafs maybe someone who grows will pop in

Thanks Jiffymouse and Dream Gardener! How neat to get good advice from my computer! WOW! I;m impressed and so glad I'm learning about Forums! My bed gets morning sun, but not for very long. Also I take really good care of this bed. I bet that's why the other Confederate Jasmine does so well....it is blistered by HOT afternoon sun and goes dry often since my office is closed all weekend. I may try to move this Jasmine in the Spring if it survives, or would it be best to move it now? Thanks so much for your help!!!!!!!
