Gang,

Has anyone seen the umbrella type trellis? When the flowers cover it, it looks like an umbrella...really pretty from what I've seen of it.

I really would love to get this..and use an English climbing rose to scramble over.

My question is, how long would it take for the roses to scramble over it, if I bought a bare root plant? And, should I plant one, or two of the roses for best coverage?

Barbara

I would plant 2.I have seen cecil brunner& know it grows 10-12 ft.if they are fertilized well they grow fast ad also have less problems cause are healthier.
I seen the umbrella trellis but was done with clemetris...rocky mountain I believe it was and had black eyed susies under it.Was in port aurthor.I was turning about on a one way street and ran into it and seen a few other nicely gardened houses.Th e red climber lincoln grows fast too and is another red one just not on my mind at the moment..Blaze that it.

Hey, njoynit!

Thanks for the response. I had a trellis with red blaze climbers at my last home. The red blaze took about three years to really take off....though i may not have planted it properly at the time because there were so many roots from a nearby tree and i wasn't able to dig down deep enough.

I like Cecile Brunner roses...they are white, aren't they?
I think something like that would be a fantastic addition to my garden.
