I've just moved my jade from Florida to Alabama, and it's not very happy. It's getting droopy, mushy leaves and stems, which I'm guessing is rot. I'm also getting some kind of yellow mold in the soil coming up around the base of the stem. Any idea what's causing this?

Hmmmmmmmm
What are your watering and feeding habits for it? Is it in the sun? window?

To me, this sounds like a case of root rot due to overwatering. What i recommend, if this is the case, is i wouldn't water it again until the soil is completely dry. I'm not too sure on what to do with the mold stuff though >.o hopefully someone else will help out with that.

You may have to do some cutting to get rid of the root rot, but that's not my recommendation. Wait till someone who knows more than me about that kinda stuff comes on before you do any cutting.

Other than that, good luck! hope i helped a bit [flower]

Thanks for the info. I've repotted it in a shallower, clay pot, but when I did that I noticed that the base of the stem was a little mushy, so I'm afraid it may not make it. Hopefully a little babying will bring it back to it's glory days though.

A soft stem close to the soil line is not a good sign. The roots have probably rotted and the stems and the rest of the plant will soon follow.

I suggest that you take as many healthy cuttings as possible and use them to propagate new plants.

Sorry.
