I have quite a large veggie garden in the backyard. Last year I was so busy with graduate school that I did VERY LITTLE to the garden. In fact all I grew were oriental lilly and tomatos, and I let the rest of the garden go....Therefore, I had TONS OF WEEDS!! Now, I'd like to reclaim the garden for some more veggies, but it is a total mess. I just finished racking up the garbage of dead weeds etc that was on the top soil and the dead plants from last season. I'm contemplating using round up on the garden (excluding the areas where the oriental lilly's are) and then waiting 3 weeks to plant...and then I would only plant items that I could buy at the green house with 3-4 inches high...Does anyone know for sure if this would work to get rid of those nasty weeds?

I'm not sure what kind of weeds u have in your region of the country, but round up would be my #1 choice if i wanted to get rid of a lot of weeds. Matter of fact, every 2 weeks i mix up a couple gallons and make my rounds. Some weeds are more stubborn than others;so, if u have those kind of weeds, u might have mix it stronger or hit them twice. When i was living in Vermont i remember "witch grass". I'm not sure what kind of grass that is, but the roots ran deep. I was a teenager then and had to pull weeds in this elderly couple's flower garden. Roundup sure would have been nice!! I was so bored! Gardendreamer03@aol.com
